Dr. Krishnaraj Ganeshnarayan is a:

  • Health care professional, surgeon, researcher, mentor and academician with over 17 years of experience in providing Clinical Periodontal Care, Administrating Patient Care services, Quality Assurance, Performing Translational Research and Academic Teaching for undergraduate and postgraduate dental students.
  • Ph.D. (Oral Biology) from the University of Medicine and Dentistry, New Jersey, USA in 2012.
  • Certified in Infection Control approved by the New York State Department of Health, USA.
  • Certified in HIPAA regulations, UMDNJ, USA
  • Masters in Dental Surgery (MDS Periodontics): Completed a 3-year program in Periodontics from SDM College of Dental Sciences in 2004.
  • Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS): Completed a 5-year BDS program from VS Dental College, Bangalore in 1999.

Lecture synopsis

  • Dental Lasers are among the newest advances in dental technology in contemporary dental practices. The advent of Laser dentistry, a minimally invasive approach has shown great advancement in the past few years. In this process, dentists use a laser device that transmits a highly concentrated beam of light to treat different dental conditions.
  • USES OF LASER DENTISTRY
    It is used in:
    • Oral surgery
    • Periodontal treatment (gum disease, gingivitis)
    • Cavity treatment
    • Teeth whitening
    • Reducing the discomfort of canker and cold sores
    • Exposing partially erupted wisdom teeth
    • Helping treat infections in root canals
    • Removing overgrown tissues caused by certain medications
    • Extracting muscle attachments that limit proper movement
    • Managing gum tissue during impressions for crowns or other procedures
    • Performing biopsy procedures Curing inflamed gum tissues and treating gum disease
    • Reshaping and removing gum and bone tissues during crown lengthening procedures
    • Speeding up tooth whitening procedures
  • This lecture and hands-on program give a brief insight into clinical applications of laser along with several clinical videos on patients and has on of laser using different vegetables to understand the effect of different power settings of the laser.
