Lecture synopsis

  • The topic for the lecture is ‘Antibiotics in Maxillofacial Trauma – mandatory or dispensable’
  • Overuse of antibiotics in the management of facial trauma is a problem that maxillofacial surgeons are well aware of, but lack of definitive guidelines and fear of post-operative infective complications have made the prolonged use of antibiotics a routine. This lecture aims at providing a clinical update on peri-operative antibiotic use in facial trauma.
  • The lecture will be followed by case discussions on maxillofacial trauma.
